How long is stored research held on the system for?

As described in the User Guide, Synaptic guarantees to store research on the system for at least 30 days. This is a minimum contractual requirement – it doesn’t mean that Synaptic will delete research on the 31st day and, at the moment, Synaptic has no plans to delete any stored research.
